This is an innovative proposal to convert and extend a three storey building on the west side of Putney High Street.

 

The project transforms the building into 2 no. 2 bedroom flats and 1 no. 1 bedroom flat, with retail remaining on the ground floor. The design works with the current built form to form a two-storey rear/ side extension which will convert 2 x 1 bedroom flats into 2 x 2 bedroom flats and erection of an additional storey to form the 1 x 1 bedroom flat. At ground floor level, a cycle and bin storage facility will be created on the rear/ side and the rear courtyard will be enclosed to form a retail storage and staff area for the ground floor retail unit.

 

The palette of materials is consistent with the local area and immediate neighbours, as are the built forms (mansard and dormers) and detailing (windows, rainwater goods).

6 AND 6A HIGH STREET UXBRIDGE UB8 1JN

 

This is an exciting project along Uxbridge High Street to change first and second floor offices into three self-contained flats with a new mansard roof to the building.

 

The proposal consists of minor alternations to the ground floor to provide internal bicycle storage under the staircase, and a new rear door. The first and second floor will be re-configured to provide a two-bedroom flat in each level. The new mansard roof will also accommodate a two-bedroom flat.

 

The additional mansard roof proposed is in-keeping to the neighbouring buildings; maintaining the style of the “Old Uxbridge/Windsor Street” conservation area. It is also set back from the parapet which reduces any visual impact from the High Street. The new construction will visually improve the existing roof configuration and be very sympathetic to the surrounding area.

 

The proposal involves renovating the existing property by repainting the exterior, replacement windows and general maintenance to the interior.
